Frequently Asked Questions about the insurance process

Are you Licensed and Insured?
Yes, we are licensed and insured. We are a licensed in all municipalities where we do business and this includes a Greenville County roofing permit.

Do I need to get quotes?
No, all insurance policies state that the policyholder has the right to choose their own contractor. Insurance companies only pay based on THEIR quote or the LOWEST quote that you turn in. By getting multiple quotes you are helping the insurance company save money and spending your valuable time to do it. All you are responsible for is the deductable.

How long will it take to complete my new roof?
In most cases, your roof can be completed in one day. In the event that we have to finish the roof the next day, we will make sure that your property is protected and finish it the next day.

What if the Insurance company doesn’t pay enough to complete my roof.
In some cases, the insurance company doesn’t pay enough to complete the roof the proper way. In this case Lanier Roofing’s team of experienced insurance experts will work with the Insurance Company to supplement the job on your behalf so that you will not have to pay any money out of pocket except for you deductable.

If I file a claim, will my rates go up?
After most major storms (including hail and wind storms) your insurance premiums will go up regardless if you file a claim or not. This is because your homeowner’s policy is based on the aggregate number of homes in the area. If you don’t file a claim, you will not get a new roof and have to pay increased insurance premiums anyway.

When do I pay for the project?
In most cases, the insurance company pays the homeowner in two payments. We take the first payment on the day of the build. We take the second payment when it has been released by your insurance company. Our team of insurance experts will track you second payment and keep you informed to when you will receive it. If it is a straight bid job, we require payment the day the job is completed.

How does the weather affect my project?
Lanier Roofing and Restoration will monitor the weather prior to the scheduled build date. On the morning of the build, if the weather is showing 30% chance of rain or better, we will postpone the build until the next day. If the chance of rain is under 30% we proceed with the build.
